Ga kerasa banget dah uda lama ga buka blog. humm… mule kapan ya… ?kelas 2 SMA kaleee… & sekarang aku uda masuk k PTN. jah… bener2 uda lama!

Minggu pagi gini bingung ndiri di asrama. Ga da kegiatan. Mo jalan2 juga susah, ga punya dui seh! yah… gini dah jadinya, terkatung2 geje di depan lepi ma tungguin tukang galon.

Klo uda gini ni jadi inget masa-masa SMA dulu. Boro-boro nongkrong ga jelas. Mesti ada aja kegiatannya. Maen ke  sana lah, ki sini lah, alesan les lah, tambahan pelajara, & segudang cara buat afdolin keluar rumah. Sekarang, saat maen uda ga dilarang2 lagi, malah ga bisa ngapa2in. Hadegh….

Yah… Ujung2nya, Minggu pagi bakal dihabisisn ma kesibukan IRT ala anak kost… ck!

Di samping itu, dengan keilmuan yang dipelajari di program studi ini memungkinkan bagi manusia untuk memanfaatkan komputer untuk menirukan kemampuan berpikir manusia, seperti halnya yang diterapkan pada robot atau sistem cerdas lainnya. Pada tingkatan yang lebih tinggi, faktor-faktor kerumitan logika dan sistematika dalam pengolahan informasi ini bahkan dapat menyamai tingkat kerumitan pada proses berpikir manusia.

Kalau diperhatikan, sering ada persepsi yang keliru tentang program studi IF. Banyak yang mengira IF adalah program studi tentang komputer atau sekedar belajar membuat program. Tentu saja bukan, ketika sudah kuliah teman-teman akan menemukan bahwa komputer bagi mahasiswa IF seperti teleskop bagi mahasiswa Astronomi. IF juga bukan program studi yang mempelajari cara menulis program komputer atau penggunaan aplikasi perangkat lunak saja. Mahasiswa IF dituntut untuk mempelajari semuanya dan mampu menggunakannya untuk memecahkan persoalan di dunia nyata. Bagaimana membuat model logika dari keadaan yang nyata dan menerapkan pada sistem komputer.

Lalu, apa saja yang dipelajari di IF? Tentu banyak sekali, mulai dari yang dasar, seperti : algoritma dan pemrograman, logika, basis data, rekayasa perangkat lunak, organisasi dan arsitektur komputer, sistem operasi, jaringan komputer, sistem informasi , inteligensi buatan, grafika komputer, sampai ke aplikasi pada bidang-bidang keahlian komputer lainnya. Selain itu, mahasiswa IF juga akan mempelajari isu-isu sosial dan profesional, serta etika dalam bidang teknologi informasi.

Sebagai bidang yang terus berkembang, di prodi IF teman-teman juga akan mempelajari topik-topik khusus sesuai dengan trend yang sedang ramai, misalnya mobile computing, search engine, multimedia, dan sebagainya. Paling tidak, teman-teman tidak akan ketinggalan informasi terkini dalam bidang IT. Tentu saja jika ia proaktif untuk mengkaji ilmu dan punya kemauan untuk belajar.

Kuliah di IF ITB memberi banyak kesempatan dan peluang. Mahasiswa yang senang dengan bidang keilmuan IF akan memperoleh dasar-dasar yang memadai untuk menjadi ahli di bidangnya. Mahasiswa yang tertarik dengan pengembangan perangkat lunak akan dibekali dengan teknik dan metodologi yang telah teruji dengan baik. Bagi yang ingin segera bekerja, IF punya jaringan kerja sama yang baik dengan perusahaan-perusahaan IT. Tidak jarang di IF diadakan kuliah tamu yang mengundang akademisi dan praktisi IT nasional bahkan internasional.

Untuk kuliah di IF, mahasiswa tidak mesti mahir dulu dalam pemrograman. Ilmu yang dipelajari di SMA, khususnya matematika, akan sangat membantu untuk memahami berbagai mata kuliah di IF. Namun, jika para mahasiswa telah mengenal pemrograman dan aplikasi komputer sebelumnya, maka ia akan sangat terbantu dalam proses belajarnya.

Prospek Kerja

Bidang yang dapat ditekuni seorang sarjana Teknik Informatika cukup beragam, antara lain:

• Programmer
  • Baik sebagai system programmer atau application developer, sarjana IF sangat dibutuhkan di berbagai bidang, misalnya bidang perbankan, telekomunikasi, industri IT, media, instansi pemerintah, dsb.
• Software Engineer / Web engineer
  • Berperan dalam pengembangan perangkat lunak untuk berbagai keperluan. Misalnya perangkat lunak untuk pendidikan, telekomunikasi, bisnis, hiburan, dan sebagainya.
• System analyst dan system integrator
  • Berperan dalam melakukan analisis terhadap sistem dalam suatu instansi atau perusahaan dan membuat solusi yang integratif dengan memanfaatkan perangkat lunak
• Konsultan IT
• Database Engineer / Database Administrator
  • Berperan dalam perancangan dan pemeliharaan basis data suatu instansi atau perusahaan.
• Web Engineer / Web Administrator
  • Bertugas merancang dan membangun website beserta berbagai layanan dan fasilitas yang berjalan di atasnya. Ia juga bertugas melakukan maintenance untuk website tersebut dan mengembangkannya.
• Computer network / Data Communication Engineer
  • Bertugas merancang aristektur jaringan, serta melakukan perawatan dan pengelolaan jaringan dalam suatu instansi atau perusahaan

Selain bidang-bidang profesional di atas, sarjana IF juga dapat bekerja di bidang lainnya. Misalnya di bidang pendidikan atau dalam bidang keilmuan dengan menjadi peneliti di lembaga-lembaga penelitian seperti di LIPI, BPPT, dan Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan di perusahaan.
